Bismillah ir-rahman ir-rahim
Assalam alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu
One of the greatest benefits of Adhkaar is it keeps Shaytan away from the person reciting them. Reciting them on a daily basis builds a fortress to protect a Muslim from any evil. Unfortunately, most Muslims today ignore these Adhkaars and as a result we constantly fall victim to Shaytan and his associates from both mankind and jinn. I pray we take heed from this and make the morning and evening Adhkaar part of our daily lives. Allah says in Surah Al-Ahzab (Q33:41-42), "O you who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance. And glorify His praises morning and evening." And He says in Surah Al-Qaf (Q50:39), "...And glorify the praises of Your Lord before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting."
Due to many mentioned ahadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) in which he said: "Whoever says such an such in the morning..." and "whoever says such and such in the evening." Perhaps the most appropriate view is that a person should strive to recite the morning dhirks between dawn and sunrise, then if he misses that it will be acceptable if he recites them before forenoon (al-dhuha) ends, which is shortly before Dhuhr prayer. As for the evening dhikrs it will be between the time of Asr and Maghrib, then if he misses that it will be acceptable if he recites them before one-third of the night has passed. The evidence for this preference is the fact that the Qur'an urges us to remember Allah in the early morning (bukoor) and in the late afternoon ('ashiy) which is th time between Asr and Maghrib.
The following are some or the morning and evening Adhkaars, In Sha Allah it would be best to memorize and share too.
In the evening:
“We have reached the evening and at this very them unto Allah belongs all sovereignty, and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent. My Lord, I ask for the good of this night and the good of what follows it and take refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what follows it. My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I take refuge in You from torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.”
And in the morning:
“We have reached the morning and at this very time unto Allah belongs all sovereignty...”“O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the morning and by Your leave we have reached the evening, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our resurrection.”
“O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the evening and by Your leave we have reached the morning, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our return.”
“O
Allah, verily I have reached the morning and call on You, the bearers of Your
throne, Your angels, and all of Your creation to witness that You are Allah,
none has the right to be worshipped except You, alone, without partner and
Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger.” (four times in the morning and
evening)
“O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You created me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your convent and promise as best I can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I committed. I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sin except You.” (and likewise in the evening)
“We
have reached the morning and at this very time all sovereignty belongs to
Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I as you for the good of this day, its
triumphs and its guidance, and I take refuge in You from the evil of this day and
the evil that follows.”
It was narrated by ‘Abdullah bin
Khubaib (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah said to me, “Recite Surat Al-Ikhlas
and Al-Mu’awwidhatain (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) three times at dawn and
dusk. It will suffice you in all respects.” (At-tirmidhi and Abu Dawud)
May Allah help us to remember Him and dhikr to become a regular part of our lives so as to strengthen our communication with Allah, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
And Allah knows best.
